KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Authorities said they discovered another firearm at a checkpoint at McGhee Tyson Airport on Wednesday.
Around 8:30 p.m., officers reportedly found a loaded .380 pistol that was in a passenger's carry-on bag, the TSA saud. They seized the bag and cited the passenger.
“Passengers are reminded to look through the contents of their carry-on bags before coming to the airport,” said Stephen Wood, TSA Federal Security Director.
Officials added it was the 5th firearm they've discovered at the Knoxville checkpoint so far this year. They seized 17 last year in Knoxville and more than 1,300 across the country.
