NORTH KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - Police are investigating an early morning pharmacy robbery and a chase that ended up with the suspects in the hospital.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says that the accused robbers were armed when they hit up the CVS Pharmacy on East Emory Road around 3:30 Sunday morning.

One of the men pulled out a weapon, demanded drugs from the clerk, then they fled the scene.

Deputies are reporting that the suspects were driving very fast when they crashed into a tree at the intersection of Fountain City Road and Rifle Range Drive.

One was trapped under the car before being freed by emergency workers. The other tried to run from the police, but was caught.

They were both taken to UT Medical Center and treated for injuries suffered in the crash.

Charges are pending against the suspects.
