ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) A bear caught was caught on video this morning crossing the road in Claxton.

So, as a good reporter, I decided to see if I could track it down. I've never seen one in the wild before.

Kenny Elliott was having a yard sale. I decided to stop by and ask him what he would do if he saw a bear.

"I want to wrestle it, I'm going to wrestle me a bear," says Elliot

11-year-old, Brian says, "I'd go get somebody, or I'd make a trap and trap it, one or the other."

He's not afraid of bears.

Black bears are common in East Tennesee. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) says there are almost 600 wild bears in this part of the state. Sometimes those bears find their way into our neighborhoods.

"I don't doubt it, there's a lot of open space, lot of woods for it to be in," says Randy Young of Claxton.

He says bear sightings don't worry him too much, but if they're roaming around Claxton, he says he wouldn't want to meet up with it.

I didn't have any luck finding a live bear, but I did find one at the yard sale I was at.
