KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)--Around 7 o'clock Tuesday morning the SWAT team stormed an Oak Ridge house and found drugs and cash and arrested two people.
David Irby and Mary Ann Dixon are facing drug charges. Cops say they caught them with cash and this pot they seized from the South Benedict Avenue home. The bust brought in over $13,000 and two pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $5,000. Albert Frost says, "It's a very nice arrest. Got some marijuana off street. And a good hit."
Albert Frost heads up the newly formed 7th Judicial Drug Task Force the organization that made this bust. Frost says, "We're having great success. We're all about working together and sharing information. This bust is a product of working together."
Oak Ridge Police Chief James Akagi says the task force is a huge help getting drugs off streets. Chief James Akagi says, "We were out last week and this morning we hit a major lick. So happy to see them operating here."
The task force focuses mainly on getting drugs off the street, and sometimes guns. Frost says, "We're definitely going to make a difference in Anderson County."
As for the two arrested Tuesday morning, they might not be alone. The task force is still investigating this case so there could be more arrests to come. The task force is made up of officers from Clinton and Oak Ridge. They've had 9 major busts so far and are currently working on 12 cases.
