SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Emergency management officials in Sevier County say the 20-acre brush fire on Bluff Mountain is contained.
The Pigeon Forge Fire Department is still keeping an eye on the smoke, but it appears to be under control.
Fire officials asked people who live on the mountain to evacuate their homes. The fire was based at the intersection of Tower Road and East End Road, near the radio tower for Sevier County Dispatch.
According to officials, there were 30- 40 firefighters from 12 fire departments on scene. Crews set up a command center based at the top of the mountain and are pulling water from Goose Creek Road at the bottom of the mountain.
Authorities said it was a "very dangerous fire."
This was not the first brush fire on Bluff Mountain; previous fires broke out in 2005, 2009 and 2010.
