Car hauler fire shuts down I-40 west bound lanes

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- All west bound lanes on I-40 are back open after an 18-wheeler hauling several cars caught fire Sunday morning.

It happened just before 11 a.m. on I-40 West near mile marker 402.

According to fire officials, the fire started in the rear of the tractor trailer and spread to two cars.

The used cars were being transported to an auto auction.

The west bound lanes were closed for about an hour causing major traffic delays. No injuries were reported.
