Christmas in Dandridge kicks off

DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The tree is lit on the Jefferson County Courthouse steps.

That means Christmas in Dandridge has kicked off this holiday season.

The town's already decked out with wreaths and lights. Over the next few days, there will be carriage rides along Main Street.

People can also take hayrides, go to open houses in the shops around downtown and, of course, hear caroling.

Tina Murrow, the Executive Director of the Main Street Program, says this time is about bringing people together.

"One thing about Dandridge is it truly is an authentic small town experience. And you really want that hometown spirit around the holidays. So Christmas in Dandridge is really what it's all about," said Murrow.

The celebration continues until Saturday, and the Christmas parade will be in a few weeks.
