Weather Alert: Strong to severe storms are expected tonight

Cinco de Mayo comes to Market Square

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Cinco de Mayo celebrations make their way to Downtown Knoxville Saturday for Fiesta del Cinco de Mayo at Market Square.

The festival, hosted by Preservation Pub, kicks off at 4 p.m. on Market Square.

Bands will perform on the square from 4 p.m. through 10 p.m., and you can find the list at the end of this article.

A variety of Mexican beer will be offered for sale on Market Square.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is increasing enforcement of drunk driving with patrols and checkpoints.

If you drink, we at Local 8 News ask you use taxis or designated drivers and to not put yourself and others at risk.

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Mexican Army's victory in the Battle of Puebla over the French Army in 1862.
