Community remembers teen cancer patient who inspired hundreds

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- People all over the world and right here in East Tennessee remembered Katelyn Norman Friday with special tributes and fundraisers for her family.

Fourteen year-old Katelyn Norman passed away at East Tennessee Children's Hospital surrounded by family and friends, around 8:00 Friday morning.

Earlier this month Katelyn learned the bone cancer she'd been battling for two years was terminal. That's when she created a bucket list, filled will all the things she wanted to do.
Since then friends, family and strangers have been working to make those wishes come true.

Katelyn Norman inspired so many. She may be gone, but her memory will live on.

People all over Campbell County remembered Katelyn Friday, some still trying to raise money in her honor. They say the funds will go to help her family with medical bills.

Hazel's Hairstyles and Stuff is selling pocket knives engraved with "Kate's" name for her bucket list fund. The Smooth White Synthetic Mini Trapper with a green ribbon is made by W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery Company.

Hazel's says the company rushed the knives in just a day's time to fulfill 100 orders. The store plans to order more to meet the demand, already raising $1,800 for Katelyn's family. To order a knife, call 423-566-3441.

A special bike ride will be held to raise money for the fund in Sevierville on April 13th.

Katelyn's funeral will be held at Cedar Hill Baptist Church in LaFollete.
