MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Union County community came together on Sunday to raise money for a family who lost their 2 year old daughter. A benefit lunch was put together to raise money for the family of Allison Ortiz, who was ran over by a car last week.

"I will say that it definitely has been an experience that is from God. His power has just moved. It's not any one business or anyone but this has been by God, completely," said Kristie Nipper, a family friend who helped put the dinner together. "We obviously can't bring her back. but every little bit we can do to consul that family is going to be our goal.

More than 200 people showed up at Union County High School to eat spaghetti, join in an auction and watch live entertainment. Organizers say they raised more than $3600, that they will donate to the Ortiz family to help cover her funeral expenses.

An account has also been set up at FSNG Bank in Maynardville where people can drop off donations to the family.

"A lot of people, tons of hours have gone into this. businesses donating, things have fallen through, then something else turns up that's just been handed to us," Nipper added.
