Convict's boyfriend pleads guilty to hiding her

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Maryville man has pleaded guilty to helping his girlfriend hide after she fled during her federal trial in Knoxville on drug charges.

The Daily Times reported 32-year-old Brian Paul Hatcher entered a guilty plea on Thursday to acting as an accessory after the fact and retaliating against a witness.

The plea agreement calls for Hatcher to pay all fees and fines in the case and he will remain in jail until his sentencing, set for April 17, 2013.

Prosecutors said Hatcher helped hide 42-year-old Tamral "Tammy" Guzman, who disappeared during her federal trial in October. Guzman was convicted in absentia on 57 drug and money laundering charges. Guzman operated a pain clinic in Maryville.

Federal marshals caught Guzman and Hatcher in Hollywood Beach, Fla., on Oct. 31.
