KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- A friendly competition in Knoxville was aimed at raising money for a good cause.
The Young Professional Knoxville Civitan Club held a cornhole tournament Saturday.
Teams of two gave their best shot at the winning the gold and bragging rights.
This group, founded just last year, helps out different charities throughout East Tennessee.
Saturday's tournament was their first public fundraiser.
President of the club, Michael Grider, says the the money goes toward different charities.
"Most recently, around Valentine's Day, we did a Valentine's Day party for a local assisted living facility. It helps us to fund those sorts of projects but, we also partner with local non-profits."
The group is made up of young professionals in the area.
"We really can give more our time than we can our money and that's really what this is about," said Grider, "We're a club that tries to get in and actually do work in the community rather than just raise money and give money. "
This Knoxville chapter is a division of Civitan International.
