KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox County mayor is seeking paper and video records of visitors to The Knoxville News Sentinel.

Editor Jack McElroy said in a blog posting Monday that he and the paper were served with a subpoena seeking paper logs and surveillance video for Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett.

The subpoena sought information about visitors to the newspaper between May 15 and June 24. McElroy said the petition appears to be related to the newspaper's June 24 report about Burchett campaign finances.

The newspaper reported that the campaign paid Burchett's wife, Allison, just over $15,000 that wasn't recorded on financial disclosure reports.

Allison Burchett filed for divorce in April, and the subpoena was drawn up by Tim Burchett's divorce attorney.

McElroy said the newspaper will fight the subpoena.
