SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Eight men face sex related charges following a joint undercover operation at TVA's Douglas Dam Reservation, Sevier Co. Sheriff Ron Seals announced on Tuesday. (See Gallery for Suspects)
Seals said his office teamed up with TVA Police in June after receiving reports that more and more people were headed there to engage in sexual activity.
Seals said investigators determined the men were going online to solicit sex and then heading over to the Reservation's parking lots and scenic trails. Places that he points out, "families come to enjoy camping, picnicking and fishing."
Seals said his office will continue with increased patrols at TVA properties in the county and he suspects more undercover operations will be conducted on and around Douglas Dam.
“TVA is committed to keeping our properties family friendly environments,” echoed David G. Jolley, TVA vice president of Security and Emergency Management. “Our partnerships with local departments such as Sevier County are critical to achieving that goal.”
