Crimetracker: Twelve arrested in Knox County prostitution sting

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Knox County sheriff's deputies arrested twelve people between Tuesday and Wednesday at a Merchant's Drive hotel in a prostitution sting.

Arrests were made after appointments were set up with undercover officers posing as escorts on backpage.com.

The Sheriff's office chose the location. A department spokesperson said the stings are conducted in various parts of town.

The twelve were arrested on charges of patronizing prostitution within a hundred feet of a church.

Trial dates are set throughout the month of March.
