Crimetracker: Two arrested, accused of smuggling illegal immigrants

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested two people after discovering more than a dozen illegal immigrants in their vehicle.

The trooper pulled over Mario Garcia-Durate and Guadalupe Morel for not wearing their seat belts, but when the he looked inside their van, he found 14 illegal immigrants.

According to court records, Garcia-Durate told ICE agents he was taking the people from Texas to New York. He said he earned $100 per person.
