Cumberland Co. couple charged with TennCare Fraud

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Cumberland Co. couple was arrested and charged with passing forged prescriptions and using TennCare public health insurance to pay for them.

Nathan Scott Huff is charged with three counts of TennCare fraud for passing fake prescriptions for the painkillers Norco and Vicodin and using TennCare to pay for them. He was also charged with four counts of TennCare "doctor shopping" and billing the visits to TennCare.

His wife, Jamie Dawn Huff, is charged with using her husband's TennCare benefits to pay for a forged prescription of Hydrocodone.

“Our primary goal is to stop this activity in TennCare, so that prescription drugs are used in the matter they’re intended to be used,” Inspector General Deborah Y. Faulkner said. “And, we hope people charged with prescription drug crimes in TennCare can finally get help after the arrest occurs.”

TennCare fraud is a Class E Felony, carrying a sentence of up to two years in prison.
