KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Mike and Linda Patty planned to stay inside all day Tuesday because of the cold, but things quickly changed.

"Brutus, our dog, he's a little chihuahua, started barking and my husband got up to look and there was a young man in his 20s coming up to the driveway," said Linda Patty.

"He said, he wanted to know if that was a real body or a dummy in the yard and I said, 'Excuse me?' He reiterated and I said, 'What are you talking about?'" said Mike Patty.

Patty stepped out onto his porch and got the shock of his life when he looked over at Sandra Feole's yard and saw his neighbor lying on the ground wearing only her nightgown. He immediately called 911.

Knox County deputies said Feole had health problems and don't believe foul play was involved. But neighbors wonder if the weather was a factor.

"If she had gotten locked out, I would have hoped she would have came to one of us and said, 'Hey, can you help me?' I say she probably slipped and fell - I just hope she didn't suffer," said Kim Rucker, who lives a two houses away.

Rucker said Feole was a kind woman who loved children, working on her flower bed and painting - and said everyone in the neighborhood will miss her.

Temperatures overnight Monday and into Tuesday morning were in the single digits, but deputies are waiting for autopsy results to determine her exact cause of death.
