KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A gas line erupted Saturday afternoon during a landscaping project, which forced dozens of apartments to be evacuated - according to the Knoxville Fire Department.

It happened around 1 p.m. at the West View Apartments on Gleason Drive in West Knoxville after someone planted trees on the property and struck the gas line.

KFD and the Knoxville Utilities Board worked to control the gas flow.
Crews say the wind helped out by blowing the leaking vapors away from the area.

After all of the apartments were checked, the go-ahead was given for everyone to go back home. Fire-crews remind you to always call 811 before you dig to see if it's safe.

No one was hurt during the incident.
