Driver involved in church van wreck charged

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The driver of the Chevy Blazer that collided with a church van, killing two passengers, was released from the hospital on Monday and has been taken into custody by the Sevier Co., Sheriff's Office.

Tyler Schaeffer is charged with Aggravated burglary in Sevier County on an unrelated case. Charges could be pending in connection to the crash.

The 21 year-old was taken to UT Medical Center in critical condition following the September crash, which killed Jeff Trussell of Maryville and Courtney Kaliszewski were killed. Both were on board Cedar Grove Baptist Church's van, which was heading back to Maryville from a weekend retreat.
