KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- It started with just a simple idea to help the tornado victims in Claiborne County but in less than a week hundreds of items poured in from the community showing that Tennessee is truly the 'Volunteer State'.
People from all over stopped by Toyota Knoxville and dropped off enough to fill five Toyota Tundras with bottled water, food, school supplies, paper products and clothes.
The overwhelming generosity came from people like GiGi Demorgante who wanted to do something even though times are tough right now for her family.
"I'm out of work but I wanted to do something. I couldn't go out and buy anything but I could give some of the extra items I had from coupon clipping." said GiGi
Kids even stopped by with their donations, including Sarah Grace and her best friend Gracie.
"We felt like it would be a nice thing to do. I know the people will be happy when they see what we brought them." said Sarah Grace
There's no doubt the rebuilding process is going to be a long one for Claiborne County but with your generosity it will make the process a little easier.
Of course, all this wouldn't be possible without your help! Thank you to Toyota Knoxville for their support and trucks, The American Red Cross and the East Tennessee community!
