GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Ober Gatlinburg is planning several events over the weekend and through February for ski lovers to celebrate 50 years of skiing.
On Sunday, the ski resort invites guests to dress in retro. In celebration of 50 Years of Skiing in Tennessee, Ober Gatlinburg is flashing back. Show your retro ski sweater, cropped ski pants or leather boots and receive 50% off the $54 area/lift ticket valid from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Ober Gatlinburg also plans for the first competition of the 2012/13 winter season. The competition will take place Sunday at the Freestyle Terrain Park at 11a.m. It is free to register however all participants must wear a helmet and have a lift ticket/season pass to get on the slopes.

LEARN TO SKI OR SNOWBOARD ~ The $129 package includes 3 Sessions Aerial Tram, Area/Lift Tickets, Ski or Snowboard Rental and 1 Hour Lessons. After the 3rd session, you are eligible for a season pass for the remainder of the current season and the entire 2013/14 season for just $199.00! (Must be purchased by February 13, 2013.)

FIRST 50 FREE FOR THE 50th ~ In celebration of 50 years of skiing in Tennessee, Ober Gatlinburg is offering the first 50 people in line a FREE 6pm - 10pm area/lift ticket for that Friday evening! To receive the free ticket, be one of the first 50 people to arrive at the Information Booth on the mountain on Friday, Jan. 11th beginning at 5pm.
