KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The East Tennessee Association for Retail Marketing (FARM) will open a third market in west Knoxville when the Farmer's Market season begins later this month.
The new location will officially open April 16 at 3:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Ebenezer United Methodist Church at the corner of Ebenezer and Westland Drive. In previous years, Laurel Church of Christ, 3457 Kingston Pike, across from Cherokee Boulevard hosted both Tuesday and Thursday Markets.
But, for those of you who liked the Laurel Church location, don't fret. “We will continue to operate the Friday farmers market at the Laurel location,” says FARM President Kellye Wilson. It opens Friday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m.
“We opted to move the Tuesday market since there are now mid-week markets downtown and on the UT campus. The new location will spread the markets across the community for better access to locally-grown products.”
FARM's third location in Oak Ridge opens Saturday, April 13 at 8:00 a.m. across from historic Jackson Square.
While Spring is just beginning, there's plenty of types of early produce to be found at the market, including includes lettuce, broccoli, garlic, carrots, onions, radishes alfalfa sprouts and asparagus.
