KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A fake war veteran was sentenced to 2.5 years in federal prison Wednesday.
Most of us have heard war stories from a Veteran. But the ones that 59 year-old Charles Kaczmarczyk told were nothing more than lies.
A judge sentenced him to federal prison time for using those stories to get nearly a half million dollars in benefits he didn't deserve.
His most famous tales? Telling people he evacuated the U.S. Embassy during Vietnam, and took part in a secret mission during the Iran hostage crisis.
