PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Many areas of Sevier County are watching flood waters closely, some businesses could flood if the rivers keep rising.
Early afternoon in Pigeon Forge, heavy rains forced several roads to close. Walden's Creek Road was one of the first to flood. People who work in the area say it happens often.
"We've had people get stuck in the intersection out here and have to be pulled out," said Nicole Miller at the Stone House Pizza.
Miller says the flooding hurts business because people aren't able to get to her.
However, many didn't obey traffic signs warning of high waters.
That was the case also in other areas that flooded. By early evening high waters forced the closure of Maples Branch Road, Apple Valley Road, Eastgate Road, Burden Hill Road, and New Era Road. Miller hopes that the city or county can figure out a way to solve some of the flooding problems.
"There's people who get stranded in that. And they'll put up a few little barricades out here but nobody's manning that. they just put up a sign that says high water area," said Miller.
By 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, businesses on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge were watching the flood waters. Businesses that back up to the Little Pigeon River say water was close to creeping inside the back door.
Many say they are worried that because the River has not crest that it will surely get higher.
