WARTBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The former principal of a Morgan Co. school who was expected in court Thursday morning on charges of child abuse and neglect after she paddled a kindergarten student in September had her court date postponed.
Prosecutors claim Dr. Penny Boyd used excessive force when she paddled the five year-old boy eight times for throwing crayons and rocks. She was set to appear in court for the first time Thursday.
After the incident, Boyd was re-assigned to Central Middle School to serve as vice-principal. The moved sparked protests among parents in the community.
Boyd was suspended without pay after the charges were announced.
