Fort Campbell soldier charged in wife's murder

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) -- A Fort Campbell soldier has been charged in the stabbing and choking death of his wife at their home at the Army installation.

According to a statement from the Fort Campbell public affairs office, 25-year-old Spc. Robert Jenks has been charged with the slaying of 21-year-old Linzi R. Jenks, who was found dead Sunday.

The charge of murder with premeditation alleges that he pushed, choked and stabbed her. He was also charged with wrongfully possessing two guns that were not registered with the installation security office.

Robert Jenks joined the Army in January 2008 and is assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division's rear-detachment at Fort Campbell. The military said he has deployed to Afghanistan once, from September 2008 until March 2009.
