KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An emotional day at First Baptist Church in Morristown Thursday morning as family and friends gathered to pray for and remember the 10 year-old Noah Winstead, who was electrocuted while swimming near a boat dock on Independence Day, and his friend Nate Lynum, 11, who is still in critical condition fighting for his life.

Those who came to pray for the boys are still trying to understand how this could have happened.

"Our heart just ache and we want to show the support of church family," said Roger Odom.

Both the Winsteads and Lynums can expect a lot of prayer and support.

"Both families are well loved," said Missie Odom. "They have many, many friends. We're just gonna have to surround them and love them and try to help them get through it."

Friends said the Noah and Nate were close friends who attended Cornerstone Academy in Morristown. They would have been fifth-graders this fall.

"Nate was always fun to be around and was really artsy," remembered Spencer Odom. "And Noah, he was full of energy. Always running around and always happy."

One of their former teachers, Holly Helton said both boys were a pleasure to have in school.

"I can't really comprehend that they're - at least Noah is gone," she said. "And Nate, we're still praying about him."

While they pray for Nate, supporters remember Noah as a fun-loving, active kid who loved playing basketball.

"He was always having fun," said Spencer Odom. "So that's how I'll remember him - having fun."
