KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - When you logged onto Facebook Wednesday, you've probably noticed your account looks a little different.
The biggest change you'll notice is the ticker. It let's you see all your friends' activity in real-time. Things like status updates, friendships, photos, videos, links, likes and comments. You can't close the ticker, but you can hide a story by clicking on a story, click the menu at the top right and choose "hide story."
The other noticeable change are blue corners on posts. This is a suggestion from Facebook about a post that may be interesting to you. Facebook decides if something is a "Top Story" based on your relationship to that person, how many comments and likes it got and what kind of story it is.
If you see something that isn't interesting to you, hover over the right side of the update, click the arrow and click 'unmark as top story' from the menu. You can also filter by friends. Click the name of your friend on your home page to view only stories by people on the list you've selected.
You can hide a person or a story type, like a quiz.. Click the drop-down menu and select, hide story, hide all by - which will remove the post and prevent all future stories from a person, page, group, event or app. Or click 'report story or spam' which will remove the post and help keep your new feed clear of stories like it in the future.
Facebook is looking for feedback, so if you have problems, be sure to visit the Help Center.
