GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Gatlinburg City Commissioners are looking at ways to help spur economic development in North Gatlinburg.
The commission has approved plans for changes to the city's amusement zones. Now businesses can put up permanent ride attractions as close as 50 feet o the parkway.
Commissioner Mike Werner says the change would run from traffic light 1 to light 3 and hopes it will provide for a better entrance to the city.
"Looking at what they can do to maybe get an attraction or new business that will get people interested in to coming to that end of town," said Werner. "That's been an area that's been blighted or depressed for a number of years."
There has not been an official proposal for development in the area at this time.
