Google helps to make TN kids lemonade entrepreneurs

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A national entrepreneurial program is partnering with Google Inc. to encourage more youth to consider becoming entrepreneurs.

Lemonade Day announced the partnership on Wednesday. Its program teaches youth to operate their own business through the real-world experience of a lemonade stand.

Google, a proponent of entrepreneurship, will use its online technology to help the program reach more youth. Their goal is to inspire at least a million.

John Lyman is the company's entrepreneurship manager. He says empowering youth to become entrepreneurs will create future jobs.

Nashville is among 20 cities that will be joining the initiative in 2013.

Michael Burcham is president and CEO of The Entrepreneur Center in Nashville. He says he approached Lemonade Day about Nashville participating because he believes the city has a "strong, vibrant entrepreneurial community."
