Crimetracker: Gunfire erupts at East Knoxville cookout Monday night

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Two men were taken to the hospital late Monday night after gunfire erupted at an East Knoxville cookout. The victims, Jerome Lee and William Geter, told police the shootings were accidental. They were reportedly not very cooperative with prosecution attempts.

According to a KPD spokesperson, officers were called to a parking lot just off Olive Street at the Walter P. Taylor Homes around 10:45 p.m.The victims said they were at a cookout when the shots were fired.

Each of them only received minor wounds and were taken to the hospital by a friend.

The investigation is still ongoing, police said.
