KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Seven families will be able to move into new homes Friday and it's all thanks to Habitat For Humanity and volunteers like you. The Seven Day Blitz building seven homes started Saturday in the new Knox County Silver Leaf Community. Under construction is a four bedroom home for Mr. and Mrs. Rouse and their 3 children.

Ken Rouse says, "We're just so excited. Never thought we would be able to, we've been renting all our lives and we got involved with these fine people and it's just been a Godsend."

John Murphy is a volunteer and has this to add. "I believe in the organization. I believe in their mission. And their mission really is to help people who are helping themselves. It's not a handout. It's a hand up."

The Rouse's must spend 500 hours helping build homes, attend budget classes, and homeowner classes before getting the keys to the front door. The dedication ceremony will be held on site this Friday at 4 pm.
