KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- In less than a week...Knoxville's Habitat For Humanity will finish turning an empty spot...into a new community.
On Saturday, The Silver Leaf subdivision will be made up of 6 new homes. It's in East Knoxville, off of Skyline Drive.
It'll take hundreds or more volunteers and nearly 14 hundred hours of work.
Different groups like churches and law firms are teaming up for the current "Blitz Build."
That effort is appreciated by folks like Burnice Hubbs...who will live in her new Habitat home with her children.
Hubbs says it's a chance for her family to make the most of their hard earned gift.
Long time volunteer, Mike McClanahan, says Habitat Homes are better than they first were when Knoxville's chapter opened in 1985.
McClanahan is glad to be helping form a community...a community that was built in part by the soon to be residents.
A dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 21st.
