Hurricane relief scam warning

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- If you are feeling charitable, The Internal Revenue Service says to beware. The IRS issued a consumer alert about possible scams taking place in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
The IRS says anyone wishing to make disaster-related charitable donations should follow these tips:
To help disaster victims, donate to recognized charities.
Be wary of charities with names that are similar to familiar or nationally known organizations.
Don’t give out personal financial information to anyone who solicits a contribution.
