A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT is in effect into Wednesday due repeated rainfall. A Flood Watch is in effect for our area until 7 AM Wednesday. Where there are more pauses in the rain, totals will be closer to 2 inches but some will receive at least 4 inches of rainfall total. Creeks and streams run high and areas with poor runoff could face flooding problems. Busy commute hours could face more slowdowns, with fog and standing water on roads as well.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) --- While parents in Connecticut bury young victims of a mass shootings, school officials in Knoxville welcome young students back to the classroom. And have advice for parents who's kids might be asking about Sandy Hook.
A list of seven guidelines was sent to teachers in schools on Monday.
The key points covered everything from dealing with specific age groups to how television coverage might affect them.
The schools want to reassure the students that their hallways are safe.
Teachers have been told not to bring up Sandy Hook but to be prepared for any questions students may have.
There are no plans to increase the number of officers in our county schools.
