DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Jefferson City woman died and three others were injured Saturday night when two cars collided on Highway 92, according to THP.
Authorities said Megan Bowers,26, of Jefferson City was driving her Dodge vehicle eastbound on Dumplin Valley Road around 7:00 p.m. and came to the intersection of Highway 92. She then pulled into the path of oncoming traffic.
That's when, authorities said, Thomas R. Whitaker, 72, of Morristown crashed into her. His Pontiac was in the right lane of Highway 92. Whitaker then hit Bowers' car, which came to rest in the median. Whitaker's car ended up in the left lane of the highway.
Bowers died in the crash, and two passengers, Steven Goehl, 25, of Jefferson City, and Ocean Phillips, 18, of Newport were injured. Phillips remains in critical condition at UT Medical Center.
THP requested tests because troopers thought she may have had drugs in her system.
