Crimetracker: Jefferson Co. senior guilty of stabbing wife several times

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 67 year-old man faces up to 25 years behind bars after he was convicted of trying to kill his wife in 2011, according to the 4th Judicial District Attorney General James B. Dunn.

On Thursday. a jury deliberated for just over five hours before convicting Glenn Lemual Stepp of attempted first degree murder and violating a protective order

Stepp faces sentencing on May 6, nearly two years to the day after he approached his wife from behind and stabbed her multiple times with a hunting knife. She managed to escape to the home of a neighbor, who called 911 and helped slow the bleeding.

According to Dunn, his wife suffered extensive injuries, including permanent damage to one of her wrists.
