KNOXVILLE (WVLT) – Jimmy Haslam will be back behind the CEO desk at Pilot Flying J soon.
Haslam will reassume his roll as chief operating officer of the travel center chain, which he left last September after purchasing the Cleveland Browns.
Haslam said he will retain John Compton, who assumed the CEO position, as a strategic advisor to Pilot Flying J, the Cleveland Browns and the Haslam family.
The move will give the Haslam family the opportunity to employ Compton's qualifications across the many businesses they own, according to a press release.
“John brings an excellent skill set in marketing, operating excellence and strategic thinking,” Haslam said in the release. “These are skills that would benefit all of our businesses, not just Pilot Flying J.”
Compton, a University of Tennessee graduate and former COO at PepsiCo, said he is excited for his new role.
“I am thrilled to work with Jimmy on the strategic opportunities facing our companies,” Compton said. “I greatly enjoyed working directly with the Pilot Flying J teams and look forward to assisting the Cleveland Browns as well.”
