JELLICO, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Scottie Reid lives in Jellico and has been looking for work for six months.

"I've got three kids. It's hard - you have to do odd jobs and a little bit of everything to make a dollar here. There ain't nothing," said Reid.

But there's good news: Utah-based Montclair Technology is coming to town, bringing work for 40 people.

"These are good paying jobs that are paid between $15 and $25 an hour, plus benefits. So it's a terrific shot in the arm and we have qualified peolple that are willing to be trained to take on the task," said Mayor Les Stiers.

And an even bigger shot for the city, since the company is moving into the former Taylor Machine Shop building in the industrial park. How big? Well, the building is about 30,000 square feet, which means between $25,000 and $30,000 each year in property taxes for the city.

Plus, to lure Montclair to Jellico, the city got state and federal grants to extend rail lines into the industrial park.

"It increases the value of the property out there so that we can bring in maybe another industry that can use rail service. Maybe we can go after a food cannery business," said Stiers.

The oil recycling business will be the first of its kind in East Tennessee. Reid is planning to apply as soon as he can.

"As soon as they start taking applications I'm going to. Yeah it'd be - it would mean a lot to a lot of people around here," he said.

Stiers said Montclair Technology already has all of its state and federal EPA permits and should be open within the next six months.

He said a new restaurant is also moving to Jellico and will bring up to 70 jobs with it, but isn't releasing more details at this time.
