KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A private shopping event was held at Belk in Knoxville's West Town Mall on Sunday night.
Those who bought tickets got 20% off their purchases, while also helping the Junior League of Knoxville.
"All the money that is raised goes directly toward what we call, Mini Grants for the Knox County teachers. So, the teachers are able to apply for these grants and then we award them in December. And they're anywhere from $250 dollars to $1,000 to use on projects the teachers plan to do in their classrooms," said Kathryn Vinson.
Vinson said the Junior League of Knoxville's Mini Grant program grows every year, and the organization receives hundreds of applications from teachers.
