KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An attack on a Knoxville Police Dept. officer turned into a homicide investigation after his fellow officers found a dead body inside of a tent, alongside four sleeping individuals, according to KPD spokesperson Darrell DeBusk.

Four people face unrelated charges or are being held for questioning in connection with the man's death. The victim's body was taken to the Forensic Center where an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death and his identity. Once, police know who he is and have notified a next-of-kin they say they will release his name.

According to DeBusk, an officer originally responded to a disturbance call in the 800 block of Richards St. around 8:15 p.m. There, he found a very intoxicated Charles Mathew Rose, who reported tried to force the officer onto the ground. Following a brief struggle, the officer managed to detain him.

During their investigation, officers discovered the homeless camp where they found four people sleeping in a tent. Once they got out of the tent, officers noticed the man's body in the corner covered up in blankets.

Rose was charged with Resisting Stop, Halt, Frisk, Arrest as well as Public Intoxication. He is being held on $1,250 bond. Three of the people in the tent Hope Carol Warvi, Joshua Cool, and Brandon Roberts each face charges of Assault (on a homeless male) and Theft.
