KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Federal agents swarmed Complete Family Care and Pounds-A-Weigh on Kingston Pike in West Knoxville. TBI tells me their agents executed a search warrant Thursday morning. The Drug Enforcement Agency and Health and Human Services in conjunction with the Office of Inspector General were also at the scene.
Investigators carried out boxes and boxes and took them into this RV trailer. No one would tell us what they found. Agents also went into pounds a weigh next door, but they didn't bring anything out.
People at The Rock Yard business, behind the clinic say they're surprised. The Rock Yard Operations Manager Joe Pickle says, "We noticed a lot of vehicles parked in the abandoned car wash lot. Just a lot more vehicles than normal today."
He thought someone might have been hurt. Complete Family Care and Pounds-A-Weigh have the same owner, but Pounds-A-Weigh has been closed for a while according to Pickle. Pickle says, "They seem like a legit business and it would be shocking."
Neal Phillips went to the clinic for a physical before. He tells me there are strict rules posted inside and anything illegal would surprise him. Neal Phillips says, "I saw signs inside saying you must bring prescriptions in and that they are not calling in prescriptions. So it's a big shock actually."
The owner of the complete family care business is Dr. Andrew Sugantharaj. He's 48 years-old from West Knoxville and attended Bearden High School. He has no criminal history.
