KNOXVILLE, TN - The Knoxville Utilities Board is on high alert as east Tennessee braces for record temperatures this weekend. As of Thursday there were no reported outages, but KUB is prepared just in case.
KUB says the best way to report a power outage is to call them directly at (865) 524-2911. It staffs a calling center of 50 around the clock.
KUB is also preparing new emergency reporting tools to allow customers to report outages online, which they help will speed up the process. Customers will also be able to check their technicians' location and status using an online interactive map.
In case of an outage during extreme heat, KUB urges customers to find a tip sheet on its website. Those include wearing lightweight loose clothes, drinking plenty of fluids and bathing in tepid water, pulling blinds and curtains closed, and avoiding the stove or over. Click the link below for more.
KUB also asks that customers check on elderly neighbors in case of a prolonged outage. They can also contact the American Red Cross for more resources.
