KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)- A domestic dispute leads to one man facing kidnapping, vehicle burglary and assault charges.

Investigators with the Sheriff's Office say 33-year-old Elgin Weaver of Knoxville followed his estranged wife, 31-year-old Jennifer Weaver of Knoxville, to her friend's house Saturday night. Weaver's accused of threatening to shoot her if she didn't leave with him. Police say Weaver took the woman's purse and ran off.

Then around 11 Sunday morning, investigators say Weaver drove to his wife's residence, at the Valley Inn Motel, on Raccoon Valley Road.

Weaver then offered the woman back her purse if she would talk with him. Instead, Weaver grabbed the woman and drove off with her, while attempting to run over one of the woman's friends.

Deputies say after driving for around two and a half hours, Weaver's wife was able to convince him to take her to her car in Anderson County. The woman called her friend who let Knox County deputies what was going on.

Weaver was then arrested without incident at the Heiskell Market on Heiskell Road.

Weaver is in jail with a bond of $90,000.00. He has an extensive criminal record.
