A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT is in effect into Wednesday due repeated rainfall. A Flood Watch is in effect for our area until 7 AM Wednesday. Where there are more pauses in the rain, totals will be closer to 2 inches but some will receive at least 4 inches of rainfall total. Creeks and streams run high and areas with poor runoff could face flooding problems. Busy commute hours could face more slowdowns, with fog and standing water on roads as well.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Knoxville woman who put a message in a bottle while sailing three years ago says it was found last month near Bordeaux, France.
Kimberly Estep tossed the note into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Bahamas. She included her email address and phone number with a request to get in touch and let her know where the note was found.
Estep told the Knoxville News Sentinel her friends laughed at her, but after a 4,000 mile journey, the note was found by Daniel Sempiana.
Sempiana in an email said that when he called Estep, speaking broken English with a French accent, she thought it was a joke. Then she was elated. Since then, they have continued to correspond by email and are now friends.
