KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville solar entrepreneur was honored as a "Champion of Change" at the White House on Thursday. David Bolt, the founder of Sustainable Futures, LLC, was one of eight people honored for "demonstrating that corporate environmental leadership makes sense" for businesses and communities.
“The leaders we’ve selected as Champions of Change are proving that sustainable practices work for companies’ bottom lines, and work for the health of American communities,” said Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
Bolt recently expanded his solar design and installation company with the help of the city's Community Development Dept., the city explained in a release.
With a $65,000 loan through the city's Business Expansion Loan Program, Bolt expanded to a 6,000 sq. ft. facility in South Knoxville and grown from three to fifteen employees.
