KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A new website and app promises to help drivers heading downtown find parking. The tools, www.parkdowntown.com, were created by the Knoxville Central Business Improvement District (CBID).

“The CBID is committed to helping improve the parking in downtown” said Michele Hummel, CBID Director. “This includes letting the public know about all the available parking options, and helping them find their way there.”

The site contains a database of parking locations, information about on-street parking, residential parking passes, and information for bicyclists. It also explains how to download the app, which is available for the iPhone and certain Android devices.

Developed by Streetline the app stores all of the city's spots so it can guide drivers trying to park.

The agency says it plans to update the database quarterly with the help of downtown parking companies.
