SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Sevier County Commission has decided not to vote on purchasing new land for an industrial park just off Interstate 40.
The commission voted to table a vote on the land purchase until the February meeting.
Sevier County Economic Development officials are looking for an area to build a new industrial park. Right now the county has 5 acres of land available for a company to build on, but many companies are looking for much more land.
"We need some additional property and we are looking at about 115 acres out by the interstate," said Allen Newton, Executive Director Sevier County Economic Development Council.
The site the county is looking to acquire, will need some upgrade along with the roads leading there. Newton says the county will need to figure out how to pay for all of the infrastructure improvements needed once the land deal is finalized.
