KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT)-- Layaway became popular during the Great Depression but lost steam in the 1980's. Walmart discontinued its layaway from in 2006 but brought it back in 2011. Now, this year layaway is gaining traction with a variety of other stores.
Walmart started their layaway program a month early this year and charge $5.00; however, that money will be refunded to you as a gift card once you pay the layaway purchase off. Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us has free layaway until October 31, 2012. After that there's a $5.00 service fee. You'll have to put 20% down at first, 50% within 45 days and paid in full by December 16, 2012.For complete details visit Toys R Us Layaway
